26 miles in 24 hours – the inside story.
A Podcast with a difference – the microphone is turned around and Paul Freeman and Jon Monks talk about Jon’s 62-mile walk along the Northumberland Coast Path.
If you want to support the two charities I mention in the Podcast you can do that online here.

Good podcast Jon and well done
After proper preparation ( training / planning etc ) , Nutrition ( Food + Drinks ) are the key … you will be surprised by the amount of kcal you get through doing 100k in 24 hours … a portion of your daily intake ( 2,000-3,000kcal per day ) + say 18 hours active intake … thats probably not far short of 9 – 10,000kcal .in total .. and up to 8 litres of fluids/electrolytes ( more in hot weather ) … thats bites on the 1/2hr and sips from the camelbak ( or other ) every 1/4hr or 20 mins … plus a good food over the two or three weeks before , on the day before the start and at half way plus top ups at other stages/stops depending upon the event/support team structure …
You are right about having your own zone / pace on these things …
You’ve got the bug … you’ll be doing multiple events or step change events each year now …
I’ve got my 100 miler scheduled for next year now ( postponed from this year due to covid ) … preparation is always work in progress … your plans will always evolve due to experience and what you pick up from others on the way
Once again well done
Mike
