4. Ian’s FAQ’s, the frequently asked questions Ian gets asked whilst supporting our customers.

Garmin
Why is it that when I’ve downloaded a long distance walk I can see it on my Basecamp but not on my GPS?

On road – 50 points
Off road – 250 points
On and off road – 50 points

How you download and breakdown a long distance walk are covered in the On line Resource under the ‘GPX Library’

Satmap

Can I transfer a route to my Active 20 without using my PC?

Yes you can.

You need a Premium Xpedition2 account and to set up the Active 20.

Main menu>Settings>

  1. WiFi settings>Default WiFi state – ‘On’, Xpedition2 connectivity – ‘Live Site’
  2. Enter User Name>User name – ‘Name of the Active 20’, Xpedition user name and password – these are what you use to log in to your Xpedition2 account

Watches

How do I transfer a gpx file to my watch?

Transferring a gpx file can be done by:

  1. importing the gpx file from the Internet to your PC hard disk and then in to either Basecamp or directly to the watch
  2. using the web based version of your Garmin Connect account and then syncing the watch
  3. using a smartphone/tablet with the Garmin Connect app having imported it in to the app from the mobile internet and then syncing Garmin Connect with the watch

Option 2 is covered in the On Line Resource.

I’ve had a touch screen and now a 66sr. It is so much easier to use buttons when out walking. Like Ian, I love my 66sr
